Social Justice Ministry

Get to know more about what makes us different.

What is Social Justice?
Social Justice is ensuring that individuals fulfill their societal roles in the advancement of equity, access, participation, and human rights
The Purpose of the Social Justice Ministry
The purpose of the Social Justice Ministry is to embody Christ’s love and justice by actively engaging in initiatives that promote social equity, advocate for the marginalized, and empower our community through education, advocacy, and direct action.
We encourage participation in activities that address social injustices by:
  1. Equipping the Community
  2. Enlightening Members
  3. Encouraging Congregants
  4. Educating the Community

We envision a community transformed by the principles of social justice, where every individual is respected, valued, and supported.
Active Participation in Community Meetings
Attend and participate in various community meetings, including those of the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners and other relevant gatherings in the Metropolitan Atlanta region. This involvement helps stay informed about local governance and issues affecting the community.
Voter Registration Drives
Conduct on-site voter registration drives in DeKalb, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, Clayton, Rockdale, and Newton counties. The goal is to empower the congregation and community members by ensuring they are registered to vote and understand their voting rights.
Voter Information and Alerts
Keep the congregation informed about key voting information, including changes in voting laws, registration deadlines, and election dates. This helps ensure everyone is prepared and informed for upcoming elections.
Monitoring Local School Board Meetings
Attend and monitor local school board meetings to identify and address emerging educational issues and concerns. This includes advocating for equitable and quality education for all students in the community.
Spotlighting Social Injustice Issues
Educate and inform the congregation about social injustice issues. This involves providing a platform to discuss and highlight injustices that impact the community and society.
Addressing Social Injustices
Identify and implement ways to address social injustices. This includes partnering with other ministries and outside groups for activities such as petitions, peaceful protests, and communication with local, state, or national lawmakers.
Providing Educational Resources and Tools
Offer resources, opportunities, and tools to educate the congregation and community on how to address injustices. This may include workshops, seminars, and informational sessions on various social justice topics.
The Social Justice and Community Engagement Ministry strives to be a voice for justice and equality, encouraging active participation and advocacy within the community. Through these efforts, Fairfield Baptist Church aims to make a meaningful impact on societal issues and support the well-being and rights of all individuals.

He has told you, O mortal, what is good,
and what does the Lord require of you,
but to do justice and to love kindness
and to walk humbly with your God?

Micah 6:8 NRSV
