FAIRCARE

Congregational Care

"So then, whenever we have an opportunity, let us work for the good of all,
and especially for those of the family of faith."
Galatians 6:10 (NRSV)

FairCare is a ministry of compassion that serves the members and neighbors of Fairfield Baptist Church. Through FairCare, we will endeavor to express the love of Christ by assisting with individuals’ needs, spiritually, emotionally, and physically through various ministries of the church. We will provide benevolent outreach and referrals to services in the community.

Baby Dedications

Where in the Scripture does it say to dedicate your child?
Scripture does not mention anything about dedication of children; however, Hannah dedicated her son Samuel to the Lord (1 Samuel 1:27, 28). Jesus was dedicated to the Lord as a baby (Luke 2:22) and baptized as an adult
(Matthew 3:13-17).
People were bringing little children to Jesus to have Him touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, He was indignant. He said to them, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth; anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it’. And He took the children in His arms, put His hand on them and blessed them.”
It is primarily from this passage of Scripture that we model our service of dedication and present a child to the Lord.
MARK 10:11-13

Baptism

Baptism is a visible symbol of God’s saving work within a person. It is the outward sign of belonging to the people of God—those who have repented and put their faith in Jesus Christ. When a believer is immersed below the surface into the water, it portrays to observers that Christ died and was buried. As the person is raised up out of the water, it symbolizes the resurrection of Christ.
(I Corinthians 15:3-4)
Why should I be baptized?
  • Christ commanded it. He was the example. It was for obedience
  • It was the pattern of the early church. We see it throughout the Book of the Acts of the Apostles. (Acts 2:37-41, Acts 8:12, Acts 8:36-39, Acts 10:46-48, and Acts 16)
  • It is a source of unity and a point of common ground. All is level and equal at the foot of the cross and in the baptismal waters.

How do I get baptized at Fairfield?
  • Realize you need God & repent of your sins. Verbalize with your mouth you trust in God and would like Him as your personal Lord and Savior.
  • Once you are ready to be baptized, you will be required to take the baptism class. For more information on baptism, please complete the form below or contact the team of the month at 770-482-7660.

Christian Counseling Education

Christian counseling is a type of therapy that integrates traditional therapy with Christian beliefs.  Our counseling team is available to assist members with short-term counseling.  The team integrates religion and spiritual strategies. They can assist members with everyday life struggles. They focus on family, parental, and marital counseling.  If additional attention is needed by the member(s), the team may recommend additional counseling from an outside therapist.

The team will also provide pre-marital education to help couples prepare for marriage.  This six-week session is intended to help couples discuss several important issues, ranging from finances to children so that both are on the same page. It can also help identify potential conflict areas and equip couples with tools to navigate them successfully. Premarital counseling aims to help build a strong foundation for marriage.

Prayer

The vision of the Prayer Ministry is to lift up the congregation of believers who actively engage in all manner of prayers with the demonstration of God’s anointing in healing, deliverance and direction—resulting in a greater intimacy in worship of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Its mission is to support the Pastor and lift the congregation through prayer.
