Small Groups

They met in large groups for worship and small groups for fellowship. This biblical strategy still works today.
A small group has a regular meeting schedule. It worships, shares, feeds on the Word, and reaches outside the walls of the church into the community.

Intentional Community

A small group within a church typically refers to a gathering of individuals, usually ranging from around 6 to 20 people, who come together regularly for fellowship, study, prayer, and mutual support. These groups often meet in homes, church facilities, or other convenient locations outside of the main church service. Small groups provide a more intimate and relational setting where members can build deeper connections with one another, share life experiences, and grow together spiritually.

The primary purposes of small groups within a church community include:
  1. Spiritual Growth: Small groups offer opportunities for members to study the Bible, discuss spiritual topics, and engage in meaningful conversations that deepen their understanding of faith and encourage personal growth.
  2. Fellowship and Support: Small groups provide a sense of belonging and community within the larger church body. Members can share joys, struggles, and prayer requests in a supportive and confidential environment.
  3. Discipleship: Small groups facilitate discipleship by providing a context for mentoring, accountability, and encouragement. More mature believers can guide and mentor newer members in their spiritual journey.
  4. Mission and Outreach: Small groups often engage in outreach activities and service projects to impact their local communities positively. They may also participate in evangelism and mission efforts, both locally and globally, as an expression of their faith and obedience to Christ's Great Commission.
